Akola is a jewelry brand with products handcrafted by women employed from Uganda. These ethically made necklaces, earrings, bracelets and bead kits are meant to help support and uplift the families of these Ugandan women as well as introduce people to the beauty and spirit of the culture. Akola came to us in the middle of a repositioning from a non-profit organization to an e-commerce brand. They wanted to be seen as premium and luxury, and tasked us with creating a look and feel to match their brand and image. I worked closely with the senior art director to direct several shoots with models, and used those assets create paid social content. I was the lead in culling video content to form each ad, and worked with our animator to bring the social content to life. With all of this happening during the beginning of Covid we were hoping our growth strategy would work. During the first quarter of covid we were able to see a 6% increase in AOV, a 3% increase in sales, and 44% increase in Paid Media CVR.
